Wines I have tried lately. What ones have you tried?

Aquinas, Cab. Sav. 2005, Napa Valley

The cork of this bottle had the quote “Wine makes glad the heart of man” and it is true, a glass of wine always cheers me up!  This was a silky smooth wine.  We had it with a yummy Mexican enchilada casserole.  I like spicy so it was spicy and the wine cleansed the palate, but not all the way, just enough that you were ready for the next bite but still had the foods punch on your tongue.  It was also nice to drink by itself.

Game Night Wines:

Casillero del Diablo,   Carmenere 2007,  Made in Chile

It had a fruity, rich smell to it (bouquet). It was very spicy with a full flavor.  I found it went very nice with the 7 layer bars, they were so sweet that it was a nice balance with the wines spicy flavor.  This is a wine I would drink slowly.

Yellow Tail,     Shiraz 2006,  Made in South East Australia

This wine has a vanilla smell to it, it has a crisp taste with a large amount of berries.  Basically with a Yellow Tail we knew what we were getting, and got what we wanted.  We did eat something interesting with it, Nerds- strawberry and grape flavored.  The Nerds gave the wine an extra kick, it was pretty cool.
